LA REUNION ISLAND

One of the outermost region of the European Union.
The island’s population is highly multicultural but no particular community has formed it’s own enclave.
Réunion’s population today is a natural mixed race, bearing
witness to the island’s history.

The expedition took place between
the 26th of May and the 24th of June 2013.
During these days the team encountered:

My first experience of ground up climbing

It’s 7am. Everyone wakes up with own timing and own feeling around this time. I wake up by sounds of boiling water, that is the song for a starting day. We camp out in the middle of La Réunion island, where the nearest town is called Cilaos and our camp site is...

Let’s get started

So, here we are! We are in la Réunion since two days now, but a lot happened already. It is truly amazing to discover every day something more about the island, its culture and its population. Sincerly I expected a completely different place; somehow I always thought...

The Reunion – Surprises and wonders of a volcano

Two days in the trip. James and I have arrived in advance to check out our different options: Which canyon, what wall, in which circus, and how to approach? And what better way than asking the help of some local guys? For sure, I should be “a local’… but I have spent...
